The Role of Infection Prevention and Control
The service is supported by the Trust's Pathology Department with particular expertise from the Microbiology department.

Daily management of hospitalized patients with known or suspected communicable infections.

Working with clinical and non clinical staff on all aspects of infection control, including porters, domestics, catering and estates staff.

Education & training related to infection control.

Audit and surveillance.

Development of policies & guidelines.

Outbreak management.
-
Advice on decontamination of the environment and equipment.

Expert advice as required.

Visiting all wards to answer questions from staff, patients and the public
