Accommodation for patient relatives
University Hospital provides some accommodation for use by patients’ relatives.
Availability
The accommodation consists of bedrooms, shared lounges, kitchens and bathrooms. The accommodation can be booked in advance via the Residencies Department on 01782 555682, but it is mainly used for emergency admissions. Residents of patients coming in for planned procedures may also use the accommodation if it is available and the situation makes it necessary.
Charges
If the accommodation is being occupied due to an emergency, there is no charge.
If the accommodation is being used by relatives of planned patients there is a charge of 12 pounds per night for a single room or 18 pounds per night for a double room.
All accommodation is offered on a 'first come, first served' basis and is used mainly as a short term solution.
Whilst the Trust makes every effort to view each situation on its own merit, we can only offer the rooms for up to one week per relative group at the most. If the situation is likely to be long term we would ask relatives to make arrangements for local private accommodation so that we can keep hospital accommodation available for emergency use.
