As part of the continued developments onsite there are changes to the road layout and route through the City General site. Please note the new road, new signage and new location of bus stops.
University Hospital has changed the internal road layout of the City General. To make way for the construction of the Renal Unit, the through road outside the Hartshill Orthopaedic and Surgical Unit has been closed. A new one way road has been created at the centre of the site around the area where some of the older buildings are being demolished.
The new road layout will enable the Trust to start this exciting new construction. The one way system runs through a section of the site our staff, patients and visitors will have rarely used. The new road heads past the supplies (deliveries) depot and curves around towards where the cardiac gym used to be. A T-junction then allows you to turn left up the hill towards the multi-storey or right towards Cancer, Maternity, HOSU and NSPD.
We have changed the signage and posted our parking attendants along the new route to help people navigate around the site. There are new junctions and ramps on the road so we would ask all hospital users to take extra care when driving around the City General site.
In addition, the bus stop locations have also moved as they were located on the road that has now closed. People travelling to Hanley and Longton should use the bus stop near the Healthcare Careers and Skills Academy while those travelling to Newcastle should use the bus stop near the Chapel.
