Donation Helps Cardiac Patients

A small group gathered at University Hospital of North Staffordshire to remember a very brave woman.
Sue Wallin, 58, of Madeley, died in November 2008 after a long battle against a series of health problems.
Her husband Charlie met up with consultant cardiologist Dr John Creamer and Alan Lea of the British Cardiac Patients Association (Zipper Club) to donate a Dinamap machine.
Charlie said:
"Sue had helped out with the Zipper Club after she too had heart surgery a number of years ago. I have a lot of respect for both the Doctors and nurses at the hospital and the role that the Zipper Club plays. They really helped Sue in the last few years of her life with their vast experience and expertise."
The donations we collected after Sue passed away reached 1,900 pounds so it was only logical to give to the hospital and the Zipper club. Dr John Creamer, consultant cardiologist, is delighted with the donation and the work of the Zipper Club.
He said:
"This machine will monitor patients' vital signs non-invasively so it will free the staff to get on with caring for the patients. It will make life easier for us, especially with patients who are critically ill. We couldn't go on without the support of the Zipper Club, they do a fantastic job helping us with equipment and more importantly patient support. Volunteers come in and talk to patients who are having cardiac surgery and patients find that very helpful."
