New Nursing Roles to Boost Critical Care

University Hospital is increasing the number of nurses working in its critical care unit. The Trust is recruiting over 25 new critical care nurses, which will not only improve the already high standard of care but also create much needed jobs in North Staffordshire.
People will be familiar with the huge cranes towering over the City General site, signifying the development of the hospital into modern facility, which includes the critical care wards.
Tracey Procter, practice development sister, said:
"The NHS is a very special place to work, I think it is the sort of environment where people can thrive and I would recommend it to anyone. There are many reasons why nurses would choose to come and work within the critical care unit at University Hospital. Our critical care unit is currently evolving in a 40 bed state-of-the-art facility that will also include specialities like neurosurgery and a trauma orthopaedic surgery. Anyone can work in the NHS, there is such a wide range of roles to suit everyone and with a range of flexible working options no one should be excluded."
Julia Bridgewater, University Hospital's Chief Executive, said: "The Trust employs over 7,000 people and is at the very heart of the local community. Working in the NHS is hugely fulfilling and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to make a real difference. Not only do we provide the highest possible care to our patients, the hospital provides jobs both directly and indirectly to many people in North Staffordshire. I'm very proud to work here, I'm very proud of the staff who chose to give their working lives to the hospital and I'm very proud of what we are achieving together as a team."
