University Hospital of North Staffordshire has scooped the prestigious 'Organisation of the Year' at a national awards ceremony.
The Trust won a further four awards at the Lean Healthcare Academy Exhibition and Awards in Leeds.
The Lean Healthcare Academy helps NHS Trusts to achieve significant service delivery improvements for our patients.
Julia Bridgewater, Trust Chief Executive, said:
"I'm delighted that our staff have been given some much deserved recognition for all their hard work. This award is a testament to what we can achieve working together to improve the service we offer to the people of North Staffordshire. Our staff have proven they are amongst the most talented, hard working and dedicated staff in the country. This award will further boost staff morale and I'm confident our staff will continue to gain the recognition they so richly deserve."
The University Hospital's Productive Ward Team won The Productive Series Award and Heidi Poole won Lean Champion of the Year. Vanessa Gardener, chief operating officer, and Dr Gavin Russell, medical director for strategic planning/transformation received special awards for their 'Outstanding Contribution to Improving Services'.
Heidi Poole, The Trust's administration and clerical transformation project manager, is overjoyed with her award but stresses it is an award for the entire team and organisation as a whole.
She said: "I am thrilled and honoured to have been nominated and to receive the National Lean Champion Award. This will spur me on to achieve greater things next year. Clearly this is a tremendous platform for us to build on and look forward to the next year. The ceremony allowed us to celebrate the success of our teams and individuals, who through their hard work and ongoing effort are making real improvements to the entire organisation."
