Children Get a Little Warmth from Winters

Children on the Cheethams Ward at University Hospital got a big surprise when one of their favourite CBeebies presenters made a special visit. Alex Winters, of 'Discover And Do' and 'The Bedtime Hour', is one of the UK's most loved and most watched presenters for children under six. The thirty-two-year-old selflessly gave up his time to spread a little bit of joy for the children staying in the hospital.
Staff Nurse Liz Dray was delighted with the way Alex entertained the children. She said: "It was a joy to have Alex on the ward. He really cares about the children and to see him bring a smile to their faces was a real pleasure. Some of the children on our wards are very poorly, but Alex wasn't afraid to spend time talking to them and comforting them. Although it wasn't just the children he was popular with, some of the nurses were queuing up for autographs at one point."
Before visiting the hospital, Alex had been promoting the Caudwell Children's charity. The charity supports families that need help with equipment, treatment or therapy. They also run an annual Destination Dreams holiday for children battling life threatening illnesses. On top of all of this, Alex will be running the London Marathon for Caudwell Children.
