Redevelopment of University Hospital
University Hospital of North Staffordshire is holding two exhibitions to give the public the opportunity to participate in creating plans for the redevelopment of its sites. The Royal Infirmary, Central Outpatients Department and Wilfred Place sites in Hartshill will be redeveloped once the full transfer of services to the City General site are complete in 2014. The Trust is part way through the major redevelopment of its hospitals, and a brand new 370 million pound hospital will be fully open in 2012.
This major re-development will result in all of the hospital's services being delivered from the City General site. The clinical services currently offered at the Royal Infirmary and Central Outpatients Department will be transferred to the new hospital and the sites will become surplus to the Trust's operational requirements.
The Trust is inviting local residents to view the potential options for the redevelopment of the sites and give their opinions of these options. All of the feedback received at these public exhibitions will be recorded and the Trust will select a preferred option which will be submitted to the Council to seek outline planning permission.
Following the grant of planning permission for the alternative uses and the decant of all services to the City General Hospital, the Trust will begin a marketing exercise to identify a developer(s) which will represent the maximum benefit both to the Trust and the local community.
The potential options for redevelopment will be displayed at two public exhibitions on Friday 1 October from 4pm to 7pm and Saturday 2 October from 10am to 12.30pm at the Central Outpatients Department, Thornburrow Drive, Stoke-on-Trent.
