Stoke-on-Trent is One in a Thousand

Stoke-on-Trent is one of 1,000 cities worldwide taking part in World Health celebrations on Sunday 11 April. Organisers of World Health Day want to hear from people who have done their bit to improve their own health or the health of the city. NHS Stoke on Trent and Stoke on Trent City Council are urging health champions to contact them.
Events are being held across Central Forest Park, Burslem Park and the city centre giving people the opportunity to have fun getting healthy. It's all part of the World Health Organisation's initiative to link up with cities across the world. This year's theme is '1,000 cities, 1,000 lives'. As part of the event, organisers want 1,000 stories of urban health champions, who have taken action to help improve their own or the city's health.
Judy Kurth, the event organiser, said: "The theme for World Health Day this year is 1,000 cities, 1,000 lives. The World Health Organisation is aiming to get cities from across the world to open up public spaces to health and get global stories from public health champions who all have a tale to tell on how they've taken action to have a significant impact on the health of their city. We want to hear your stories, telling us what you've done to make a real difference to the community. You can either nominate yourself or someone you admire."
