UHNS Staff Awards 2010

Over 250 staff from across University Hospital of North Staffordshire celebrated the Staff Awards 2010 at a packed Keele Hall. The Awards, held in November, recognised teams and individuals who have improved patient care or had made a significant impression on the Trust. The winner of the Employee of the Year category was Shanna Hatter, a domestic on Ward 85.
Julia Bridgewater, chief executive, said: "Over 100 team nominations were received and if it had been up to me they would have all been shortlisted for awards. The standard of the nominations was incredibly high and the people of North Staffordshire can be proud of the staff at the hospital. We have over 7,000 staff in 350 different job roles all working together to give patients the very best care. To have a domestic win the Employee of the Year category is fantastic and I know Shanna richly deserved it."
The Staff Awards are the opportunity to recognise staff who may not normally be in the limelight. Julia said: "Patients regularly praise our doctors and nurses for the standard of care they provide. Many of the teams who won awards this year are directly involved in patient care. However, there are hard working staff in areas of the Trust that patients will never see. It is important that those staff are also recognised for the part they play in caring for the care patients receive."
