Breast cancer
The breast cancer service provides surgery, oncology (chemotherapy and radiotherapy) and palliative treatments for people with breast cancer.
University Hospital has a dedicated breast care support suite and employs a multidisciplinary team to treat and care for patients. The team consists of surgeons, plastic surgeons, oncologists, histopathologists, two breast care nurses and two clinical nurse specialists who make up the Breast Care Nurisng Team.
Having the input of staff from a variety of clinical backgrounds helps give a rounded, complete view of each patient's case, and therefore results in better care.
Our staff understand the complex emotions and pressures that come with a cancer diagnoses and the subsequent treatment. They take every measure possible to ensure patients are made as comfortable as possible during treatment.
