 Ward 112/113

Wards 112 and 113 care for children from birth up to the age of 16.  The wards also provide care for teenagers up to 19 years old if they are still in full time education and wish to be cared for on a children's ward. All medical conditions are provided for, including respiratory related illnesses such as asthma, cystic fibrosis and/or infections.

Patients referred by their GP, the Emergency Care Centre or Walk-in-Centres are assessed on Ward 113. Upon arrival at the ward children are assessed by a nurse and then seen by the Doctor.

Ward 112 is a children's medical day care ward and short stay medical ward. The ward has a day case area providing care for children who may need to undergo gastroenterology procedures, receive treatment for allergy challenges, or take part in sleep studies and bronchoscopes.   Those requiring an MRI scan are also admitted into this area. Children expected to stay about 48 hours with medical conditions such as respiratory illness are usually admitted on to the ward.
