The Lymphoedema Clinic

Through the clinic, you will undergo thorough assessment and a diagnosis will be established. You will then be able to discuss this diagnosis and its implications to your lifestyle.

A care plan will then be devised, with your input, and goals to achieve will be jointly set.

Treatments are largely self-managed and you will be instructed in any relevant techniques necessary. Information will be provided in a variety of formats, including patient information leaflets, booklets and visual aids such as DVD's.

At each stage of attending the Lymphoedema clinic there will be opportunity to:

  • Ask questions and seek real practical advice and answers to your questions

  • Be referred to other services (if appropriate).

Treatments are very varied, and tailored to individual patient's needs, so do not worry if you are not receiving the same treatment as others.

You will attend the clinic regularly to start with, and then be seen less frequently. The aim is to reach a point where you can care for your Lymphoedema yourself without the need for further intervention from the clinic.
