Paediatric surgery

University Hospital works closely with Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool to provide paediatric surgical services for the local population of North Staffordshire.

Our paediatric surgery department has access to specialist facilities on the City General Hospital site, including a paediatric intensive care unit to support the management of children, including babies, with surgical problems. 

Routine surgery is also undertaken at the City General Hospital.  Patients requiring complex surgery are usually referred to Alder Hey Hospital for their operation and given follow up care at University Hospital
