Work Experience

Work Experience is a placement in which a young person or adult carries out a range of general workplace tasks and activities, but with the emphasis being on the learning aspects of the experience.

Placement areas and programme outline

The Trust has a number of placement areas available.

Duration of placements can vary between 1 day and 2 weeks.

(Placements are available subject to department workloads and staffing and will be accommodated wherever possible).

Restrictions

The demand for placements continues to exceed the number available therefore;

  • The work experience programme is available predominantly to students aged 14 upwards who either live or are studying within the geographical area of which the Trust serves.

  • If there is additonal placement capacity, these will then be offered to all other applicants outside the boundaries with a genuine interest in working within the NHS.

  • Due to health, safety and confidentiality, some clinical areas are restricted to aged 17 upwards.

  •

Please check the individual placement areas for clarification of qualifying age criteria.

You must indicate at least 3 different areas of interest and date availability in order of priority so that we can do all we can to accommodate your request.

Applications must be submitted at least 8 weeks in advance of your requested dates.

Having a police record will not prevent students from being considered for placements with the Trust. Offences will be considered in relation to their nature and seriousness in terms of the areas they will be placed in. The information given will be treated in confidence. Failure to disclose relevant information will result in immediate cancellation of the placement. Do you have any convictions, cautions, bind-overs or charges pending?
